Ostracion cyanurus

The Blue Papaya is a small boxfish, reaching a maximum length of about 15 cm. It is characterized by its boxy body and a striking blue tail. Adults or males exhibit more pronounced stripes and a blue tail fin. In the wild, they primarily feed on algae, corals, plankton, and small crustaceans. When boxfish are severely frightened, stressed, or die, they release pahutoxin from their skin, which can cause the death of other aquarium creatures.
